Hi! This week was a long one for me with work training, a big application deadline accompanied by a big decision,

Learning and Teaching:

This year, I’m teaching one section of a college level Media Studies course in addition to my usual World History and AP World History. It’s been really fun to personally review photography and production and teach my kids how to analyze media products on a deeper level. We’ll be breaking down audience, industry, and representation, but right now we’re focused on language so they are learning all about Mise-en-scene and camera shots, angles, composition, and movement. Watching: The Rings of Power (Prime) I am a HUGE Lord of the Rings fan. Luckily, Drew enjoys the movies, too! It is a goal to rewatch the trilogy (extended edition, obviously) each winter season around their release dates in December. I feel immersed in Middle-earth with new stories and characters. The cinematography is beautiful and there are a ton of great examples of Mise-en-scene!

Wearing: Thursday and Friday I had a training for work and wore these yellow pants (below) on Friday to stay cool in the Florida heat and be super comfy. They’re one of my favorite lightweight pairs, I’ve loved them for the beach and hot days. Good thing I chose comfort, because I spent over 3 hours stuck in traffic and these were great 🥲

What brought me joy in the past two weeks:

• I was accepted into grad school! Working toward a Master’s in History is something I’ve been considering on and off for nearly a decade - and although I’m nervous, I’m mostly excited to take the plunge and dive deeper into it!

• Watching The Rings of Power with Drew has been really fun and we’ve looked forward to each episode.

• Spending Sunday and Monday morning at the beach! Stormy weather kept it cloudy enough to be enjoyable, but the currents were too strong for swimming. Monday morning we were caught in a rainstorm, my favorite! I love being at the beach, especially in the ocean swimming when it rains.

• My school organized a team building bowling day last week and I LOVE to bowl. It was nice to be able to get out my bowling ball and play again. I was on a league years ago, and won most improved because I am such a terrible player. 😂

• We ordered and framed some of our engagement photos and I just love how they turned out and how they look in our vintage mid-century frames!
